A cold storage history too dry and cold a topic for you? Well, dry ice is both dry and cold--but hot to the touch! I just finished a 10-minute history of DMCS' 100+ year history for the opening of their new Crossroads facility at 3805 Vandalia, which opened Friday August 11
. The full video will be in constant rotation as part of their history display, and with unbelievable ice harvest footage from the 1930s (they used gas-powered saws, but also cut it by hand) and remastered Riverview Park footage, it's really something to see! Consider the excerpts shown here as the trailer version--then drive out to the new facility some time and take a look at the whole thing. It is truly an interesting part of Des Moines' long history.
